Al-Qaida-linked group JNIM claims attack in Mali capital

The al-Qaida-linked group Jama'at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimeen (JNIM) on Tuesday claimed responsibility for an attack on a military airport and training center in Mali's capital, Bamako, stating it had inflicted heavy human and material losses.

The jihadist group said on its communication channels that a "special operation" targeted "the military airport and the training center of the Malian gendarmes in the center of the Malian capital, Bamako, this morning at dawn, causing heavy human and material losses and destroying several military aircraft."
