BRICS calls for enhanced Global South role on world stage

The BRICS group of emerging economies called Wednesday for the Global South to be given a bigger role on the world stage.

"We call for more active and meaningful participation of states with emerging economies, the developing and the least developed countries, especially from Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, in global decision-making processes and structures," the group said in a joint statement issued at a summit in the Russian city of Kazan.
