Zelenskyy says US landmines 'very important to stop Russian assaults'

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Wednesday that the U.S. decision to send landmines to Kyiv -- criticized by international charities because of their impact on civilians -- was "very important" to halt Russian attacks.

Zelenskyy thanked the United States for a new defense package that includes the "very important mines to stop Russian assaults," saying it would "really strengthen our troops on the front."
