White House praises South Korea's 'democratic resilience' amid Yoon crisis

The White House on Wednesday praised South Korea's "democratic resilience" as lawmakers in Seoul moved to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol over his short-lived declaration of martial law.

South Korea "is demonstrating democratic resilience. We are confident the people of Korea will resolve this episode peacefully, democratically, and constitutionally," US National Security Council spokesman Sean Savett said on X.
