Scholz says Germany needs 'massive' investment, especially in defense

Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Monday that Germany needs "massive" investment, especially in defense, as he prepared to request a vote of no-confidence that would lead the way to snap elections.

"Today, a highly armed nuclear power is waging war in Europe just two hours' flight from here. We must invest massively in our security and defense," Scholz said in a speech to parliament.
