UK govt declares public probe of Southport killings

The British government Monday announced a public inquiry into the killing of three young girls in northwest England last year that sparked the country's worst riots in decades.

Interior minister Yvette Cooper said in a statement that answers were needed about the teenage defendant Axel Rudakubana and "how he came to be so dangerous, including through a public inquiry that can get to the truth about what happened and what needs to change."
