NATO chief 'looking forward' to working with Germany's Merz

On Sunday, NATO chief Mark Rutte congratulated Germany's conservative election winner, Friedrich Merz, saying he was looking forward to working with him "in this crucial moment for our shared security.

"It's vital that Europe step up on defense spending, and your leadership will be key," he added in a post on X.
