Macron congratulates next Canada PM Carney, ties 'stronger than ever'

French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday congratulated Canada's incoming Prime Minister Mark Carney, saying the former central banker was taking office at a time of "so many" challenges but with ties stronger than ever.

"At a time when we face so many challenges, the ties between France and Canada are stronger than ever," Macron said in a post on X after Canada's Liberal Party overwhelmingly elected Carney to succeed Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
