European stocks retreat as China hits back at US tariffs

European stock markets fell on Friday, reversing gains after China retaliated against massive U.S. tariffs with its 125-percent duties on goods from the United States.

Frankfurt was down 1.5 percent, Paris shed around one percent, and London dipped 0.4 percent at around 0900 GMT after they had all opened by extending gains from the previous day.
