Former MP and Interior Minister Sami al-Khatib passes away aged 86

The state-run National News Agency reported on Saturday that former MP and Minister of Interior Major General Sami al-Khatib passed away aged 86.

Born in 1933, he graduated from the military school before becoming a Lebanese Army’s Commander from 1988 to 1989.

He was appointed as an Interior Minister twice.

Al-Khatib was elected as MP from 1993 until 2005.

He is married to Nasima Aouni and has four children.
