US Embassy in Beirut says did not circulate any messages to American citizens in the last 24 hours

The United States Embassy in Lebanon announced on Wednesday that false reports have been circulating since Tuesday evening, November 12, claiming to be from the US Embassy in Beirut.

“The US Embassy did not disseminate any messages to American citizens in the last 24 hours,” the embassy said via Twitter.

It added that the embassy posts authoritative information on its website, Facebook and Twitter accounts, and by email to US citizens who have registered in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP).

In it last instructions, the US embassy called on its nationals to avoid crowds and the areas of demonstration, monitor local news, follow the instructions of local authorities, ensure travel documents are up to date and to review emergency preparedness plans.
