Presidential candidate MP Henry Helou described Wednesday’s electoral session as democratic "par excellence", since it lacked any foreign intervention.
Following the first round to elect a new president MP Helou emphasized that the only solution to the crisis comes in the form of adopting the candidature of a moderate and consensual candidate, stressing that the stance of the National Struggle Front regarding the presidential entitlement is clear.
It is worth noting that out of 124 deputies present at Wednesday’s session, only 16 voted in favor of candidate Helou, 48 endorsed Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, 52 cast blank voting slips, 1 deputy voted for Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel and 7 votes were annulled.
