Roumieh Prison inmates stage mutiny, set belongings on fire, detain security members

Roumieh Prison’s B building which houses regular and Islamist inmates is witnessing a mutiny on Tuesday. Immediately, the ISF sent an anti-riot squat to the prison to contain the mutiny.

According to preliminary information, the inmates set their mattresses and belongings on fire and detained 7 security members.

Later in the afternoon, the prisoners released the said security members.

In this regard, Interior Minister Marwan Charbel said that while the prison’s officers were counting the Islamist detainees, they voiced their annoyance, causing a state of chaos.
