Qatar grants $15 million to Lebanese Army for fuel amid economic crisis

Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Joseph Aoun met with Qatar’s ambassador to Lebanon, Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and Sultan Al-Asiri, the acting director general of the Qatar Fund for Development, at his office in Yarzeh.

The discussions focused on strengthening support for the Lebanese army.

Following the meeting, the Qatar Fund for Development announced a $15 million grant to provide fuel for the Lebanese army over the next three months.

The donation is aimed at boosting the army’s capacity to address escalating security challenges as Lebanon faces a financial crisis.

Gen. Aoun expressed his appreciation for the grant, describing it as part of Qatar’s ongoing commitment to aiding Lebanon.

“This support reaffirms the strong, brotherly relations between Lebanon and Qatar,” Aoun said.

He added that the grant underscores Qatar’s dedication to maintaining Lebanon’s security and stability during these challenging times.
