Raymond Khattar: No Israeli threats reported against Civil Defense centers in Mount Lebanon

The director-general of Civil Defense, General Raymond Khattar, issued an urgent appeal for additional resources as the ongoing conflict puts increased strain on personnel and equipment.

"The personnel are exhausted, and our equipment is in dire need of maintenance. We lack essential protective gear, including flak jackets for shrapnel and other tools necessary for interventions in war zones," Khattar said.

"We have requested the necessary supplies during this difficult time. Despite these challenges, all our centers remain fully operational. The Civil Defense emergency hotline, 125, is available for any relief requests," he continued.

Khattar also noted that threats had emerged in parts of Beirut’s southern suburbs, prompting the redistribution of Civil Defense personnel.

"We have adjusted our deployments so that when the shelling subsides, we can intervene within the limits of our capabilities," he said.

Addressing concerns about potential Israeli threats, Khattar clarified that no warnings had been received regarding Civil Defense centers in Mount Lebanon.

"We take all warnings seriously, whether true or false, and reposition our personnel to ensure their safety. False warnings are forwarded to the relevant authorities for further investigation," he added.
