MP Talal Arslan: Consultations to find consensus over new PM underway

Lebanese Democratic Party leader MP Talal Arslan asserted on Thursday that all Lebanese factions are currently holding discussions in order to reach an agreement over a consensual candidate to head the new cabinet.

Following his meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh, Arslan wished from all Lebanese factions to task Speaker Berri to find consensus over the name of a Prime Minister designate to form the new government.

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati announced the cabinet's resignation on Friday March 22, after talks deadlocked over the extension of Internal Security Forces chief Major General Ashraf Riff's mandate and the formation of an Election Supervisory Committee.
