Germany arrests Syrian accused of planning Islamist attack on soldiers

German prosecutors said on Friday they had arrested a 27-year-old Syrian man who allegedly planned an Islamist-motivated attack on army soldiers using machetes.

Prosecutors said that the man had acquired two machetes and "planned to attack Bundeswehr soldiers" in Munich during their lunch break, hoping "to kill as many of them as possible."
