Germany hails Jimmy Carter as 'great mediator for Middle East peace'

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Monday hailed Jimmy Carter as a mediator in the Middle East, following the death of the former U.S. president at the age of 100.

"The United States lost a fighter for democracy. The world lost a great mediator for peace in the Middle East and for human rights," Scholz wrote in a post on X.
